where is the safe check-in in beirut?

where is the lebanese flag on facebook?

where are the news headlines, and lights on government buildings and honouring and remembering the lebanese victims? or the syrian victims? or the iraqi victims? or the schoolchildren in pakistan, who get killed while in class?

these lives matter too. they too were daughters and sons, mothers and fathers, sisters and brothers. they too had struggles and dreams. they too were killed prematurely. these losses deserve the same outrage and empathy, the same outpour of love and sympathy.

if you gather and protest, march, or pray remember all victims of terrorism - not just the european ones. be aware of media bias, fight against it. educate yourself and educate others. be informed, that is the only way you can offer support.

This is what I’ve found.

Paris terrorist attack: About 140 people are thought to have died. I don’t think we know for sure it’s ISIS, though one of the attackers did say he was doing it for Syria and ISIS supporters are reportedly celebrating it on twitter.

Japan earthquake: Occurred offshore, magnitude 6.5. There was a tsunami warning but now there’s no significant threat. Unfortunately, some very popular posts on twitter are claiming 18k people are dead or missing. No, that was the case for the huge earthquake in early 2011. It is NOT the case for this earthquake. There have been NO reports of death and destruction so far.

Lebanon attack: A suicide bombing yesterday (Thursday) killed 43 people and injured many others. ISIS claims responsibility.

Baghdad attacks: Two separate bombings, one has killed at least 17 people, the other at least 5.
